Jeanette Kunkel Paintings

100 Paintings!
I still get excited when I unwrap a blank canvas. I wonder what the final result will be? My best paintings happen quickly, and I intuitively know when the painting is done. I find the creative process to be quite healing, and it's something that I'm compelled to do. I find my inspiration from the brilliant colours of nature when I go walking. I'm very happy and grateful that I have only a few left. Thank you for checking out my life's work!
Biography
Jeanette is an abstract artist and was born in Alberta and grew up in Calgary. She uses acrylic on canvas for her paintings, and sometimes uses sand to provide texture and depth. Her natural artistic ability surfaced at an early age where she found herself fascinated with colors from naure. Being surrounded by the majestic blues and grays of the Rocky Mountains, blue lakes and golden prairies, Jeanette absorbed nature's beauty on a regular basis. Her gift allows her the ability to translate objects in nature, to non-represenational forms using rich and vivid colors.
Jeanette attended art history class in university where she was instantly drawn to the works fo Wassily Kandinsky, Peter Kitchell, and Sam Francis. These famous painters inspired Jeanette to develop her own uniqe painting style using layers of paint and lines to giver her paintings energy and movement. She's been told her paintings are a "sophisticated work of colour". Even though Jeanette obtained her Education degree and worked in the IT field as a Systems Engineer, she has continued with her painting as it's something she's compelled to do.
